Ingredients
- 500g all-purpose flour
- 250ml warm water
- 5g active dry yeast
- 30g sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 10g salt
- 30ml vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, dissolve active dry yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Add the yeast mixture and vegetable oil to the flour mixture. Knead until it forms a smooth dough.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and knead for 5 more minutes.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a small ball.
- Roll each ball into a circle about 10cm in diameter.
- Place a filling of your choice in the center, gather the edges of the dough and pinch to seal.
- Place the shaped buns on parchment paper squares in a steamer basket, leaving space between each bun.
- Bring water to a boil in a steamer pot, then steam the buns for about 15 minutes.
- Remove from the steamer and serve warm.
